Giving it a Try!

Metro in pune (28th Jan 2010) Now officially the govt has given the green signal to this project. As everyone knows, this decision was delayed quite a few times and god knows when it all had started. I find one thing that is common between these projects from pune and bangalore. These projects were approved once the land/flat prices  had reached there peak values. bangalore real estate prices were already were at its peak then and people thought it will bubble down. then came the metro and surely it helped push the prices upwards. So i am trying to understand the bigger picture. Did these cities had congestion problems earlier- yes. Did these cities had high real estate growth earlier- yes Did these cities had heavy migrant population leading to influx of lot of people- yes. Did these cities expanded like crazy- yes. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Today (23rd Dec,2009) we had a memorable christmas party. Along with office-colleagues, I went to the mobile creche   at niyati groups project in tikare nagar. This is on the way towards vishrantwadi. There was this huge housing project and the creche was on ground floor of 4th building. Thanks to the builders and the volunteers for setting up this facility. Surprisingly the place was well decorated,  had lots of sunlight and of course lots of kids. The entrance had a very cute paintaing of "bal hanuman". Many cute looking paintaings were hung on the walls of the room. The pillars were decorated with ribbons and balloons. The mud-crafts done by some kids was nicely put up in one corner of the room. Two parallel metal beams were placed at a little height above ground alongside one wall. STSD Football Cup 08 finals i had a very good time playing as a forward. we had defended well and had not conceded any goals till finals. we didn't perform well in finals and so had lost to our arch rivals BTO.

We played our last league match of 20-20 cup against ITC. ITC won the toss and elected to bat first. Anyway we were short on in-form batsmen as they were not available on weekend. ITC made around 150 , thanks to inconsistent bowling. i did bowl couple of good overs but gave away some 32 runs in 4 overs. In first over of mine, i had bowled one bad ball on leg side and as keeper was close to wicket missed it and went for four. the very ball, had bowled an incutter which landed perfectly just outside off stump but passed very close by to leg stump at the same time keeping low. keeper missed it and voila that was another 4 runs in byes. got couple of wickets for same incutter ball. nowadays i am trying more of the incutter as i am getting good inswing. normally my strength is outswingers and legcutters. and one good thing that happened to me that i cant forget for long time is that, finally i was able finish off one super catch standing at mid-wicket. thanks to jhenkar the bowler. i was in...

On sunday we had a friendly match at infosys campus scheduled at about 8:30am. so was planning to wake up at around 6 am as i was not sure how much time will it take to reach there from cv raman nagar. i first heard the alarm ring at 6 am but finally woke up around 6:30. and after having some tea starting around 7:10 am. was pessimistic about the traffic towards electronic city but found it to be a cruise ride. as fly-over construction was going on, missed the right turn towards entrance of e-city. luckily there was option of U turn and reached the ground. The security personnel was letting us in as he had not received the intimation mail from people on their side. typical nature of these men to show what power they possess! finally we were let in after lots of walkie talkie, hand signals talks among security personnel. what a ground was it! loved it at very first sight. i didnt see my captain losing toss, but as everyone does it, the toss winning captain elected to bat first. arun an...
