Background
The idea struck way back in 2007 when I was playing for IMM team in Bangalore.
This group used to organize regular matches and an annual tournament with rival group BTM. We used to have high drama even for the local weekend matches.
Surprisingly there was no way to publish results on any cricketing site.
So I pushed the scorecard and match details on wordpress blog.

From then on, me and prashant - who was also teammate at IMM, always discussed on how to setup such a website on our own.
But then I moved to pune and things got slowed down due to lack of time.
We were always in touch and the idea to start was still in our heads.
Meantime, I was looking at different db schemas and tried to come with one on my own.
For almost 3 years, we were not sure how to go for this startup.
So we tried our hands with joomla. And once we saw that we can build our own custom module like the way we wanted it, we became sure of the project.
Again we kept delaying it and finally decided to outsource a part of project for building a prototype.
We did get the prototype but found customizing it was way too painfull.
It was as if building a new module for joomla and so wanted to move to own code.
The FB connection:-
Then FB helped me to get connected with the morpheus gang.
Raman posted about his wife's startup iDubba on his wall. (Raman was staff scientist at NCST - now CDAC, bangalore during my FPGDST programme.)
My friend Sandeep Kamat posted comment that the startup is helped by
The Morpheus gang.
I tried to find out more about these guys and thats where i got details of startup incubators or accelerators.
Suddenly I felt stronger with the mere thought of being backed up with such a community. I would also confess that the stint at enterprisedb helped me in believing the community people and which in turn allowed me to have full faith in the morphues gang.
The Morpheus Gang:-
Although we had not even approached any of the gang members,
was sure that even if we dont get selected, we would be able to connect with other startups.
To top it, morpheus had opened applications for new batch and we had months time to submit it.
So decided to quit the job, applied to the gang and was selected in the initial round and then for live in out of so many other applications.
Started working on the website from july end from scratch. The db model was already in place and that helped us to start in no time.
Although we didnt make it after the live-in, we did get valuable input that moving to php should be the way forward.
Office Setup:-
As we partners were working remotely, setting up office for each one was out of question. So we are working out of home and keep syncing everyday.
We did buy laptops individually. Then we used bitbucket for code hosting as its free for private repository unlike github. Bitbucket also has basic bug tracking and attaching bugs to commit ids feature. That was sufficient for a small team.
Took up few domains and hosting plans from godaddy and all set to roll out beta!
Many people are showing interest and want to know how are we managing the remote team. So let me share here what I think of this case.
Prior to this, I have been working with open-source and closed source community where developers are working remotely. We used to get in touch via emails, newsgroups and importantly - used skype heavily unlike my other previous employers where tools such as skype are banned and calling card is given to few privileged ones. The biggest advantage that I saw was that one used to get over skype any point of time before hitting dead end. The community developers are almost available round the clock!
In our case, we are in same time-zone, and i would not mind even if were working across timezones.
We also decided to come to each others place as per convenience.
So I have been to Bangalore couple of times and prashant comes to pune (that happens to be his in-law and parents place too) whenever he gets time.
Office Timings:
Its always time to code, as there is lots of code to be written!
Everyday you will feel that there's so much to code :)
So there is nothing like start and end time.
As I am working from home, day time is really hectic. And is forced to face my kids tantrums. But that is the best part of it too. He forces me to take time out and play with him - sometime cricket and football, all in the home lobby. That keeps me on my toes and importantly fit!
Earlier, my usual bedtime was 1:30-2pm.
As this is my own project, just like NCST days, I am stretching myself to work more number of hours.
So the bedtime has gone up considerably. (doesn't want to let my wife know about it ;) )
